My grandpappy has an old Model 10 s&w, atleast I think it is a model 10, haven't looked for at it for a while. What I do know is it is a 4 inch heavy barrel .38 K frame. I am not sure if it has fixed or adjustable sights.

Anyone cut the barrel on these with success? How short can you go without modifying the ejector? I would like to see if he'll let me do some work on it(he hasn't shot it in years, claims he never liked it much) but it's in fairly good shape. I always really liked the snubby K frames and if I bobbed the hammer and converted it to DAO, I'm sure it would make a dandy belly gun!

You can probably buy one cheaper than you can have the work done on that one...and all you'd get out of cutting the barrel is a 3" unless you want to modify the ejector rod.

ALL model 10's have fixed sights. Anything in the "military and police" line of S&W revolvers will have fixed sights.

Trade it off for a snubby. Don't cut it down

I found this 10-7 at a local shop earlier this year for $249. Keep your eyes open at the gun and pawn shops. You will find one.
