| alright guys im soon getting my first revolver, .357mag colt lawman 2"barrel, and need some advice for carry. mainly i would like to ask if yall prefer carrying extra ammo in speedloaders or loose in a small pouch. it seems to me that the pouch would carry more ammo more discreetly, but would this be worth the extra reload time? and what speedloader would i need for this firearm anyway? also, what do you think of this weapon? complete POS, only good for fun, or good reliable carry piece?(deal is not finalized yet so if i should stay away i will, although im it getting pretty cheap) |
| I carried a colt Agent for years, it was a fine little pistol. I presume the lawman is a detective special in 357. it should be a great pistol. I carried spare ammo in a Bianchi speed strip as well as speed loaders, I never used a dump pouch. I preferred the speedstrip because it fit well in my pocket. Were I to carry a revolver again, I would carry a speed loader or two in a speedloader pouch. |

Nothing wrong with the Colt Lawman, it's a strong, well made revolver, as were all Colt revolvers. I prefer speed loaders, but because they're so bulky I usually wind up carrying speed strips, while not as fast as a speed loader, it beats loading loose rounds one at a time. Not sure which speed loaders will fit your gun, I suggest you check with Midway, but the 38/357 speed strips are a one size fits all device. |

The Colt Lawman uses the HKS MK3-A Speedloader... http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=616986 http://www.natchezss.com/brand.cfm?contentID=productDetail&brand=HK&category=0&prodID=HKMK3A&CFID=3199139&CFTOKEN= |

I have a brushed chrome 2" lawman but it rarely leaves the safe anymore for CCW, while it is a stout well built gun they are quite heavy for a CCW 2" snubby, in fact it may be one of the heaviest snubby revolvers ever made...I would rather have a Colt Agent, Cobra, S& M M12 in .38, or for that matter a 3" S&W M13 or 2.5" S&W M66 if I were going to carry a .357 snub, they are all much lighter and all have better out of the box triggers
one idea for you would be to carry it in a Galco underwraps bellyband with a couple of speed strips, stap it on at waist level under your pants so it would be iwb without being attached to your belt thing about carrying this gun in a holster is that it is so dang heavy it is going to make your belt sag or ride down...even if you have a good stiff pistol belt, the gun is a beast to carry imo |
| I carry a Colt agent and one speed strip (BUG primary is a glock 19). Have for years and started with wheelguns. If you are not wearing overgarments (jacket untucked shirt) go with speed strips somewhat slower but far more concealable. If you wear long untucked shirts or a jacket then it is less of an issue. |
