Any of my fellow lefty's have any tips for speed loading a standard DA revolver?  I'm trying to make up my mind, do I shift the gun to my right hand or do I keep the gun in my left hand?  I've got both HK speed loaders and Bianchi speed strips to practice with.

I'm kind of at a loss here as to where to even begin.  I'd like to avoid learning a bunch of stuff I'll eventually have to unlearn.

And yes, I know there are companies making left handed revolvers, I'm just not interested in them.

I'm a lefty and was an ILEA Certified Firearms Instructor for many years. I've taught other Lefty's to charge revolvers using this method.

Keep the weapon in your left hand.

Press the cylinder latch with your right thumb. Open the cylinder with your left hand middle fingers and place your middle two fingers through the yoke. This allows your index finger and pinky to stabilize the gun while you use the speed loader to charge the cylinder.

After charging the cylinder place your right hand on the right side of the frame, close the cylinder with your left thumb, and move your left hand back to the grip as you slide your right hand to the forward support position.

After a little practice these movements become automatic.

I used this method for more than twenty five years and always shot in the Distinguished Expert category.

Thank you Mike for sharing that with me!  I'll practice that method this evening.
