Found a S&W Model 18-4 today at the fun show. According to the model number, it wsa made between 1977 (my HS gradauation!) & 1981.

It has a target hammer, trigger & a trigger ob. The SA trigger feels like 2lbs, maybe a hair less!   bounce]

The DA trigger feels like ball bearings rolling along a smooth steel surface. Maybe 5lbs, if that. I'll measure it later at the gun smiths shop.

Price was $525 + ttt.

There is some slight blueing wear on the muzzle from a holster, no biggie, IMO. I will be replacing the gawd awful OEM grips with some Ajax rosewood fingergroove grips, similiar to below.

What's wrong with the factory stocks?

Of course, I like station wagons.  What do I know.

Nice S&W you got there.

Nice score, any Smith .22 has skyrocketed lately! I came within a hair of picking up a 95% model 34 for $250 but didn't have the cash

Oh man, that's nice!

There's a good (relatively speaking, of course) gunshow this coming weekend, and I will actually have money! I am praying to find a S&W rimfire for a reasonable price.

Never seen a S&W trigger under 9 pounds that would reliably ignite all primers.  But sometimes a good S&W trigger feels much lighter than it really is.  I've got a pre 27 that's like that.  It almost feels like it pulls itself the action is so smooth.

Good score.  Damn I love S&W revolvers!

Thanks Bob...now I miss the few I have owned.
Trying to think back, I know the model 17 could be had with the TT & TH, but not the 18?
I'll have to dig through my old brochures only because the memory ain't what it used to be and I'm curious.
Even if they were swapped, all the better !
And I thought I was happy scoring a DW model 22, 8 incher at the fun show...I've been trumped.

No clue if they have been swapped in this particular gun, but the S&W Reference says some were indeed shipped that way.

As soon as I get my new grips (ordered tonight), I'll take this puppy to the range to sight it in for my eyes & my ammo.

Nice gun.

I love 22LR guns, they are such a kick to shoot.

My next gun has got to be a S&W 17/617, but without the full lug.

OMG the current MSRP of the 617 is almost $900!

250 bucks I wish. Local pawn shops have a couple older S&W .22s and they want 395 bucks for them in pretty worn condition.

Nice catch. My Model 18 is in my top three handguns to shoot (behind my 1911 and BHP). I left the factory service grips on, and added a Tyler T grip. Seriously have been thinking of trying to find some real stags for it.

Grips came today!

Obligatory pics:

Not quite the rosewood pattern/color I would've picked out myself, but I may trade these in at the gun show when the grip guy comes back...................

Nice !

I prefer the old school pachmyr rubber grips for a working gun, but those rosewoods are beautiful.

Good score Bob.
