I am looking at the Smith and Wesson model 40 and the model 21-4..........now, I know both are for different reasons, and one will CCW better than the other, but this will be a nightstand gun and occasional glove box gun...........so, which one would you get?

Without a doubt, I'd choose the N frame, but it's safe to say I'm a but biased to N frames.

A 21-4 is a fine firearm, as I understand, but I'd be very tempted to look to the 22-4 for lots of shooting. Especially if you're not a handloader.

That's the one I was considering..........I just typed the wrong model number in......I have 3 .45 acp handguns, so something that uses the same ammo would be better

I don't see any reason for a small handgun for either of those two purposes, so N frame.
