Well I have a dan wesson model 15 .357. It is an extremely accurate pistol, but it dosen't always fire on double action. it always fires on single action. It hits the primer but dosen't hit it hard enough to ignite it. I understand that it may be the timing is off. How do I adjust this. I can't find a gunsmith who knows anything about it. Please help. Thanks, Matt

Its probably your main/hammer spring.  S&Ws do this sometimes when the tension screw backs out or people try to use it to "adjust" the hammer spring.

someone could have istalled an aftermarket and its borderline functional.

Try new springs-Wolff's has them. Take a look at danwessonforum.com, a fairly new Forum just starting up. Some of the original factory guys are there.

If your grip screw is too long or even over tightened it can badlu effect the mainspring and DA function.

Back off on that screw a couple turns and see how it works.
If that helps, just file the screw down a couple  threads.

Not likely the timing, like others have said it is more likely the mainspring was replaced to lighten the trigger or
the original spring is worn.  Wolf  has them.

I just bought a new hand spring for my 15-2, and a few other parts that were starting to show wear.
