Does anyone make one? If not then why not? That would be a great weapon in .357/12ga, with rails for a light/optic.

Because it was a large, heavy, cumbersome weapon. To switch from the rifled barrels to the shot barrel, you had to move the firing pin.

The next logical reason is that if it were to use modern fixed ammunition, it would fall under the NFA classification of AOW and require registration along with a transfer tax.

Haven't seen, but the coolest modernized revolver I've seen recently was a Beretta made Schofield reproduction in .38.  I'd LOVE something like that.  Too bad it cost near a grand!

you could use like a .410 or 28 gauge barrel I think though...

If a .410 barrel was used and it was able to fire .45colt then would it still be AOW?  The Taurus Judge can fire both and I thought that was just considered a regular revolver.  Does the AOW only apply to large bore shotgun calibers?  Sorry but I am not at all familiar with NFA rules.

If the barrel is chambered in a shotgun round and is smoothbore then its an AOW.

If the barrel was rifled then its a regular handgun.

Yes, and a 20 gauge or 12 gauge rifled barrel would be a DD (destructive device)

Rifled shotguns arent DDs. Would the short, rifled barrel make it a DDs

If you want to shoot a 12 gauge handgun, be my guest.  I prefer to keep my hand attached to my wrist.
