Anybody have one? How do you like it? I want one so damn bad but the price is pretty high. Anybody know where to get one for less than $700?

Pics would be greatly appreciated.

There are two versions: one by Uberti & the other by S&W Custom Shop.

The $700 version is most likely the Uberti version, as the S&W version is $1,000+.

I've shot one, but cannot afford one.

The coolness factor of owning one of these is NOT to be underestimated.

Yeah, you see some expensive revolvers out there but not to many schofields. I will buy one, one of these days...

At the last gun show I went to (December crossroads in Phoenix)  I must have seen almost 40 Schoefields. Not reproductions, originals.  Wasn't one guy either. 4 different tables.

Strangest thing, never seen that many anywhere before.

I'd really like one of the Uberti replicas though.

Considering the amount of $$$ original Schofields go for.  What do you think.

Actually they were not all Schofields, I remember at least one Model 3 in .44 Russian.

Taylor Firearms has them, they are the ones I'm looking at.  But to my knowledge, all of them are made by Uberti.  I've held one and am waiting for the Income Tax check to arrive.  I'm going with the 7" Cav. model.

Beretta makes one too.

ETA: It is still made by Uberti I believe.

Not all replica breaktops are Schofields. The Schofield had a particular latch that the standard guns didn't have.

I was seriously after one of these until I found out the cylinder gas ring was eliminated when they lengthened the cylinder for longer cartridges like the .45 Colt. You won't notice it's missing if you only shoot smokeless powder, but if you shoot blackpowder I've heard the cylinder can jam up before you've fired up all your shots. Elimination of a great feature to add calibers not originally available in that pistol just kills it for me. If you don't mind not being able to shoot BP through it then the Ubertis are fine, but also be aware they are not mechanically the same as the originals. They've beefed up a number of parts.

Stay away from any used models from around 1996 that were made by Armi San Marco. They were junk and had a bad tendency to fly open as you shoot them.

I've been wanting one, just can't justify the price.
