Does anyone have any experience with the S&W Model 940 and the terrible extraction problems they have? I have recently aquired one and am quite unhappy with the 9mm cases sticking in the gun. Others have mentioned problems and I was wondering what if any problems have occured from members here? |

Not the 940 but the .357 version. 38s fired all day but hot .357s always stuck, even when clean. If purchased new, I would call Smith for further advice. If I picked up a used one with the same problem, I would start by polishing the chambers to a mirror finish. (flitz, felt bob and dremel) Any slight imperfections in the chamber, when fired, the brass will form to it. Multiplied by 5 and you have sticky extraction. True enough, the gun should not have been sold that way, IMO. |
