Seven shots of .357 magnum at around $300 sounds like this revolver choice is full of win.

I always wanted a Colt Detective Special, but I could never find one.  This Taurus is very reminiscent of the old Colt, but it is rated for the magnum caliber, and from what I have searched, it's a pretty reliable and smooth-functioning little gun.

Yea or nay?  Can you think of a better choice?

I've not owned a Taurus revolver but I do own a Taurus semi auto pistol (PT-99 AFS).  I've not had any problems with it since owning it from the early 1990s.  Only put a 1000 rounds through it and it shoots well.  Some people don't like Taurus in particular.  It's alright with me.  Seems like the Ruger would be another good choice like the GP100 or the SP101.  Good luck.

What about something like this, a Rossi 6-shot 357 magnum?

My wife has one of these.

It is full of win.

I picked up this older pre lock Taurus in a satin finish for my wife's birthday.
It appears to be full of win. But I think she can handle it.

I bought a 608 a few years ago. It really surprised me with how nice the trigger is.

I was looking at a used one a while back.  While it looked pretty impressive, it was just over $300 used.  I found a used S&W 681 a few weeks later that with some Cabelas discounts and all cost me under $175.  Shop around a little for a used S&W and I think you'll be happier in the long run.
