| Is this a good weapon? How do they compare to S & W? What is a good price for one in good to excellent shape? |
|
Some info would be nice. I just picked up a used 3" GP100 with fixed sights in Stainless Steel for $350. As far as if it's a good weapon, it will be my "Primary" off duty carry gun. Despite the screenname I'm an LEO. I don't carry unreliable or "not good" weapons, it's just that simple. Biker |

check pg 2 www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=33&t=48373 www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=33&t=50995 the GP100 is a great weapon imo--a little tougher for a CCW though b/c of its bulk and weight.... compared to a SW, esp older SW, well, the GP will have a little rougher machining, not as smooth as a trigger, and its cast i'd say ~$350+ would be the avg going price for a used one, depending on the cond; $400-$450 for a NIB |

The GP100 is not as graceful as a S&W and the triggers tend to be a bit heavy, but at the as time its built like a tank. Stronger than a S&W IMO. "Is this a good weapon?" YES!! One of Rugers best products!! I have seen nice looking used GP100s from $299 to $370 here in Indiana. Visit as many gun shops as you can and dont be afraid to ask "whats the best deal you can give me on this?" Mike Indiana |
Pretty well put. The GP-100 is an excellent revolver for the money, and hell for stout. Can't go wrong with one, IMO. |

I have 3 GP100s: 2 stainless 4" & 1 stainless 6". I paid anywhere from $300 to $400 for them in excellent shape. If properly cared for they'll easily outlast you, your kids, and their kids and will handle any .357 or .38 load you put in them. They're great guns - I'd say get one. You'll love it. |
