Has anyone shot one? I was wondering how it works when you load 410. Are they decent guns with the .45LC? Does shooting 410 hurt the rifling? I would appreciate any information on them.

The .410 shells won't harm the bore at all due to the soft lead of the shot if this is what you're asking?

I read a review in some magazine recently on one cause I was interested.  Apparently because the rifling is such to allow the .410 to work well it doesn't work as well with the .45LC.  If I remember right, it was grouping horribly at 50 feet (6 inches or such).  It was great with .410 though.

Now it could've just been a bad sample that the reviewer got.  I don't know.

I've been interested in it too.  Apparently so have a lot of people, as it's Taurus' most popular gun and it does seem to sell as soon as it comes into the store.  Given that, I'd expect that you'd hear a lot more bad things about it if it wasn't any good.

Thanks for all the information. I had heard something about it not being very accurate with the .45 LC, but I really just want one to shoot 410. They look like they are fun as hell.

The one I tested was not accurate at all at 25 yards with either .45 Colt or .410 slugs. Any shot charge spreads rapidly.
Not saying don't get one, just understand up front it's strictly a close-range deal.
Great snake gun, far from the ideal self-defense gun.

I saw an ad for this in the current issue of American Rifleman, and it looks interesting.  I saw it comes in a 3" and a 6.5" barrel.  The people that shot one, did you shoot the compact or the long barrel model?  Just wondering if the longer one is a big improvement in accuracy?

The sample I tested was the short one.

The Judge also peeked my interest recently.

My thoughts were that it would be a great grouse hunter, compact, light, and plain fun to use a handgun "shotgun"

BUT, after some research it seems that the range on it (short or long barrel) just would not give me the reach I need.

One reviewer noted that since it had to have rifling to make it legal, the rifling had a negative effect on the spread of the shot. At 10Ft it was great, as 20Ft, it had spread so much you'd be lucky to get one pellet on target. He did not the 45LC round was surprising accurate out of it, even with the "freebore" from the cylinder.

I have sense tabled my idea of a "handgun bird hunting shotgun" for now. For a little while anyways, I'll let others test it some more and see what other reviews arise.

Note, I did read there was going to be an ultralight version soon to. Even better, if it only accepted a choke I maybe could get it to reach out a little farther.

Can you imagine the WFT-factor of that gun w/ a choke tube to someone that didn't know about this gun?

Does any other manufacturer make anything competitive to this that's in the same price range?

The company that makes Desert Eagles makes a larger revolver in 410. I would buy a Taurus over it any day...though I have shot neither.

Definitely no hunter. I found several birdshot loads opened up beyond three yards to the point where it would be more miss than hit at typical bird distances.
