I just looked at a tracker .44 mag and it was a very nice size and the price was very reasonable.   How well do these hold up?      I keep holding out hope that Ruger will build a 5 shot .44mag but it never seems to come.   This is the first revolver of the size and type I want that I've found.

While I couold use this to sell mine. I'm not going to. It's a piece of junk. I felt the same way about the size of it etc. as you did. However, it has a tendency to lock up. The cylinder won't turn and the only way to unjam it is to unload the weapon and reload it. Not what I want in a gun I pack in dangerous game situations. It's been sent in to Taurus once and they didn't find anything wrong. It still does it...

where do you live in TX?  I will give you $25.00 for it.

seriously, try taking the ejector rod spring out of the cylinder and see if that prevents the cylinder from binding.  one of my taurus 94s did that also.  i am convinced that it was one of the springs in the ejector rod housing.  after i removed the spring (lost it) the cylinder would not lock up any more.  later i figured out i had lost a spring and used an ink pen spring in lieu of the lost spring.  now works great.

Have a Tracker in .41 Mag and it has been flawless with Winchester 170-gr SXT and a bunch of Federal 250 gr hunting. Kicks hard with the latter ammo, but is a sweetheart with the former.

No problems so far, and over 500 rounds down range.

My friend just got one the other day. Nice pistol. Pretty light. Well light compared to my Super Blackhawk.

Recoil is interesting on it due to the porting. It pushes back into your hand instead of flipping up.

THAT got a little uncomfortable on the hand, the back of the trigger guard just rams into your finger.  A Hogue monogrip I believe would rectify this as it has more material in that area. The ribs on the stock grips dont seem like they would last to long on there eiher.

My 265 gr handloads were a bit stiff through it. Factory 240's were not bad. I told him we would stick to the 265's for the biggest load and no 300's. I dont even know if those would fit anyhow.

All in all, a nice pistol for the money. A couple finish items, but nothing major.

Make sure you wear hearing protection. The porting rattles ya.....

Although I have several Taurus revolvers and like them....the Ruger Super Redhawk and Redhawk are the kings of .44 mag in my book.  Never had a problem with the Rugers and they have not been babied either.
