Just checking in case I do something stupid but I'm going to grind the spur off the hammer on my Taurus 82.

Should be cool huh?

You should be cool.  Post pics when you are done.

On the off chance that you lighten the hammer enough to cause light primer strikes, installing some Wolf replacement springs should take care of the problem.

The gun already has Wolffe springs.

Grinding may generate too much heat and can damage the heat treating of the hammer.

You're better off using a hacksaw with a carbide or diamond blade to saw it off, then finish the cut by grinding and polishing.

Be careful to keep debris from the cutting and grinding out of the action.

If you're careful and watch the heat build up you can also use a cutoff wheel in a Dremel tool.

If you've installed LIGHT WEIGHT springs, you may have to put the original springs back in.
With lighter weight springs you may have mis-fires in double action.
