My Dad left behind a few pistols, one of which I think is called an Hand Ejector.  Here's a link to a page of a pistol it resembles but not sure it is it.

The main difference is mine is marked 38 Long and is in brand new condition.  Anyone know much on these?

A description of markings and serial number would help a lot.

.38sw long would be the precursor to .38spl.  I had a run in with one of these a couple months ago.  If there is a "V" on the back of the cylinder it indicates that it was a Victory model made for the British.  If on the inside of the crane you see "M-10" then it is a post 57/58 manufacture.  Other than that I know nothing.  Give S&W a call and they might be able to give you some info based on the serial number.

Not necessarily. They built .38 S&W's into the 1970's.
