Found a cheap Rossi M31 online, and it piqued my curiosity. There isn't much info online about them, but it looks like production ended in 1985. I also read the Chilean army used them in the 1970's but that could be wrong. Any idea of the value? It looks to be in average shape from the pics and plated I believe. I'm not too smart with revolvers so any help is appreciated.

Rossi is a company that has undergone many "transformations."   The revolvers may look like the familiar S&W.  But, don't count on parts interchangeability.  Then, the model numbers are all over the place.

Recently they have been taken over by Taurus.  The new Rossi will not honor warranty work on the older Rossi revolvers.  But thankfully, they operate like the familiar S&W and there are plenty of gunsmiths that can do a trigger job.  Parts....well, it may take a good amount of searching.

Yup....I own three of them.

This one, was my first Rossi.  It's a 5 shot, Rossi Interarms marked .38 Special. Looks very similar to the square butt S&W M60, though the grips will not interchange.

This is a 5 shot, Rossi BrazTech marked .38 Special.  Looks like an offering in Rossi's current line up.

This is a Rossi Interarms marked 6 shot .357 mag. It's about the size of a S&W K Frame.

So, what do you have?

Pictures?
SS or blue?
5 shot or 6 shot?
barrel length?
fixed or adjustable sights?
Interarms Import Marked? BTW, Interarms stopped their import business in about 1999.

I used to have one of the Interarms Rossi five shot snubs back in my college/post college days, I guess it was a Model 31.  It was accurate at the ranges I shot it and it never failed to go bang; I used to carry it quite a bit when I was doing outdoor type stuff as it was the smallest gun I owned so it got knocked around a good bit.  I think I paid about $75 for it back in the 80's and I ended up selling it to a female co-worker who wanted a nightstand gun for $150 IIRC, kind of wish I still had it.  Use standard pressure .38s in it and you'll be fine- I used 158gr SWCHP or 158gr SWC in mine.
