| I just picked up a Smith K38 Combat Masterpiece yesterday so there goes this month's revolver budget. However, I still have an Official Police and Detective Special on my very short list of revolvers to get. BTW, is it just me or does the shape of the grips of the older pre-war models with the bakelite grips seem to have a different shape than later models like a late 60's vintage? |

The '60s models had a shorter grip frame. The stocks touch on about the last half inch of their length. The bottoms are more rounded as well. |

Mine is late 20's or early 30's and has the "Long" grip frame....... The round profile grip on 2nd type PPs was popular for export. In fact the Dutch Contract PP looks just like my revolver except for a lanyard ring. Can't say why. The one with no finish left was exported and has a provision for a lanyard ring. |
