In the past I had a lightweight Taurus tracker 7 shot .357 mag that I got in a trade. It was a fine revolver and I only got rid of it when the original owner wanted it back in another trade. I haven't had a revolver in 5 or so years and I just bought a S&W 627 Vcomp from a member here. I was just looking at picking up another Taurus in .357 so I had two guns in the same caliber. I liked the tracker but I like the fact that the 608 is 8 shots like my 627. Is there any reason to go with one over the other? I used the search feature but I couldn't come up with anything.

The only advantage would be carry weight.  I'd have to imagine that a model 66 with the mid sized frame would be lighter.

Which would be lighter? The tracker or 608?

Other than weight, is there any reason to go with one over the other?

If you are asking about accuracy or durability, id think that the extra weight helps both.  For ease of carry, the lighter weight adds some benefit.

Bulk.

If this is a carry gun then the 7 rounder is the way to go (I carry one in the summer).  If just a range toy, then either works fine.

You could always split the difference and get a model 66.  I love mine.

I just bought a 629 V-comp

Now I'm eyeing that .500 comp hunter pretty hard. Should I?
