Has anybody picked one of these up? If so, how do you like it. I'm thinking I need one.

I have a 4" GP100 that I love. I was thinking it might need the Wiley Clapp edition to keep it company.

The GP100 is an excellent platform.  Whether the Wiley Clapp edition is worth the exttra coin is another matter.

Saw the article in American Handgunner a couple months back, looked pretty cool.

About the only real change they made are the wood panels in the grips.  They claim that all the edges on the frame were rounded over but none of my GPs have corners sharp enough to bother me.  Not worth the extra cost.

I don't have one but I would agree with what you are saying. I think I would much rather buy a 3'' gp100 and set it up the way I would like it. The GP100 is easy to work on. Changing out the sights wouldn't be that hard and their are plenty of different grips to choose from. My GP100 also doesn't have any sharp edges on it. Of course this is all my personal preference and if you like it don't let me talk you out of it. Ruger makes a great revolver.

Aside front the dovetailed front sight, the Novak rear is slick and very functional.  I can't think of many wheelguns out of the box that sport Novak's either.

The grip panels and the backstrap are slightly different from the standard 3" fixed sight model and the finish seems to be a matte stainless as well.

I'm thinking these options would cost about a $200-300.00 more if you brought your box stock 3" to a 'smith. And don't forget the wait!

As I recall, the cylinder is contoured or tapered from fore to aft as well, to ease reholstering?
