It's kind of a shame that revolvers get little love these days.  Both of these sat in the local dealer's case for a long time, while Rugers, Taurii and HiPoints moved in and out quickly.  Of course, that may say something about the clientele.

Smith 581 no dash.  The Distinguished Service Magnum.  Talked him down to 3 bills. First one of these fixed sight L frames, I've ever seen.

Colt Trooper mk III.  Good shooter, little bit of muzzle wear.  Just a tad bit higher than the lowly smith.

I can't find deals on the wheel guns anymore.

I bought several for $250 from my local dealer just back in 07/08 I would walk in he would say "you got $250?" I would say yep and he would produce beautiful S&Ws a 28, 66, 34, 19, even a 17  he said I was the only one buying them.  Then that stopped and they went into the used case marked $500-$700, and no one is buying them.

I don't blame him for not continuing to give me deals just wish I could have gotten a few more.

Good grab on the trooper too.

Nice looking Colt Trooper you have there!   Looks better than mine.

I used to own a 6" blued version.  Very accurate gun.  Unfortunately, it was sold many years ago for bills.    Years later, I found a well used 4" blued one and purchased it.  It looked to be a police trade in.  Lots of carry wear.  Very clean on the inside and appeared to have been shot very little.

I really like the balance the 4" Trooper has.  It is an accurate gun also.  I mostly shoot .38 Specials out of mine.  Magnums on an occasional basis.  It has the nicest trigger break of all the guns I own.

That Smithy is really somethin special. I've never seen one like that either.

I want to get another .357 wheelgun, they are a great caliber.
I had a Dan Wesson that was an old State Troopers gun, shot like a laser beam.
But it just didn't fit me worth a darn. I tried to get over it for several years, but ended up trading it off.

Anyway, nice score and the Colt is very cool too.  BD

Just have to find someone who appreciates what an older Smith & Wesson can offer.  I've got a soft spot in my heart for fixed sight revolvers, especially the L frame so I am somewhat jealous of your 581 find...

Good catch and I agree about the lack of love by most for the revolver.  My brother and I were at the range Friday and today shooting pistols.  I pulled my 581 no dash and started shooting.  Well low and behold, I think my brother is now a in closet L frame fixed sight admirer.

As to finding good deals on revolvers, I have not seen a good one locally in a while.  A shame as I love revolvers.
