Hello everybody,

I have a friend who would like to sell an old wheel gun for his dad.  I'm a glock guy, so I'm no help with asking price.  Anyways....What do you think a stainless steel 4inch Colt King Cobra .357 is worth these days?  I'd estimate 85% condition, maybe a little better.  There is  a gun show coming up and I'd like an idea from you wheel gun guys on what to reasonably expect.  Thanks for the help.

I'll give you $50 and let you pay shipping.

Probably in the $300-$500 range.  I've seen them selling locally for $300 - $400 with no box at Scheel's and Cabela's.
$500 would be with the box.

Interesting replies. At the gun shows in the Dallas area, the asking price would be in the $500-$700 range.  The upper end of that if it's the bright polished stainless instead of the standard matte stainless.  However, the dealers at the show will only offer you about $150-$200 less than they can sell it for, since it may be on their table for several shows. I recommend that you put a sign on your back asking $500, maybe less if you really want to sell it.  I'm curious where they others have seen them so cheap.  In Minnesota (and on gunbroker.com) all the handguns I've seen are priced about 20%-25% higher than at the Dallas gun shows. After some dealers make you offers on it, you should try to sell it to an individual for a little more.

I sold a double extra nice one, with the box and papers for 625 about 6 months ago.

I'd say between $350 and $450 for one that is not a shiny piece in less than 90% condition.
Ask $500 then if someone offers you $450, jump on it.

Going to have to take a trip to you guys area. Your prices seem to be much lower then here in West Texas.

I think you might find it a bit cheaper in the D/FW area gun shows. Colts always bring a premium in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc. But the larger population areas have more of them and lower prices as a result.

I had one back in the day and really wish I had not sold it, I paid maybe $375 for mine out the door(keep in mind this was 20yrs ago) I have not seen a used Colt wheelgun in many years. I see more used Smith wheelguns than anything else, The Smith models that are no longer made(like the King Cobra) I have seen prices anywhere between $5-700+.
