Hey guys.
My father is looking for a SAA revolver. He wants something nickel plated, and that looks like a "cowboy" gun. He only wants to spend about 400 dollars, and would love a .45LC, but honestly will take anything. I've been able to find him a nice SAA in .22 for around 300, but he wants me to try and find him a .45LC. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks guys!

Did you look on Guns America or Gun Broker?

Did not see many "Nickel", but saw .45 Colt SSA style revolvers in the $380 to $500 range.

look for a Ruger.  They make them in Stainless steel. No plating having to worry about flaking/chipping off.

dont know about the 400 price tag, but you never know.  Id look at the NIB versions and if there isnt any joy, try looking for LN or Used.

Dont know how "authentic" he really needs,  but new Blackhawks in .45 LC are routinely around 400- or just a little bit more.    Not in stainless though.    A ton of people, myself included,  prefer the Blackhawk to a Vaquero due to the adjustable sights ––- you dont necesarilly have to limit yourself to just one or 2 loads

If he plans to shoot standard (not "hot") factory loads or "Cowboy" loads (lower powered), ask your favorite dealer about 1873 revolvers from Taylors;
(scroll down for MSRP)

http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/products/cf1873SingleAction.tpl

Or Cimarron (same basic guns, better finishes = higher $);

Or EMF (about the same $ as Cimarron, but different manufacturer);

Otherwise I'd hold out for a stainless  Ruger Vaquero which can be found used in his price range with a little looking. Check out the Classifieds at the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) website.
