Dear arfcom,

My buddy finally got his store and FLL set up so it's time to order some toys.  Looking at a j frame on the catalog and there are 2 versions of the 442 (one is called the pro) that look IDENTICAL on the smith and wesson website but differ by 20-30 dollars.  Any thoughts?

Look, this is the "pro" version: http://www.gunshopfinder.com/smithandwesson/smith_and_wesson_178041.asp

Looks just like a regular 442 to me...

The pro is cut to take full moon clips.  I personally do not think I would trust using moon clips in my defensive revolver. (If they get bent they can cause reliablity problems.)
The Pro model does not have the lock- that would make it worth the extra $ to me.   RRA15

I just bought a 642 Pro just because it didnt have a lock. I put the moon clips in the safe.

I gave $410 for mine. BNIB

So it's fully Functional without the moon clips?

I bought myself a Smith 442-1 Pro this summer.  It has the option of using full moon clips, speed loaders, speed strips, or loose rounds.  The 442 Pro also has a blacked stainless steel cylinder, +P rated and no lock.  Cost me $384 and it replaced my old 442 that I had for 16 yrs before I sold it.
