I just handled a Dan Wesson .41 magnum revolver in on of the local gunstores.  The gun was stainless (or nickle or something silvery) and had a 4 inch barrel, and they're asking $475.  The double action trigger pull seemed pretty light compared to my .38 S&Ws.  I'm curious about the availability of additional barrels.  The 4 inch barrel handled nicely, but obviously a 6 or 8 inch tube would be better for hunting or long range plinking.  I know .41 mag isn't a plinking cartidge, but I mostly just like to go to the range and see what modest feats of accuracy I can achieve.

In any case, I really like this revolver, but if extra barrels aren't available I think I'll just hold out for pistol kit with multiple barrels in .44 mag.

Thanks for any input or advice!

ETA - Sorry for the lack of specificity, but I was specifically intending to ask if CZ is producing barrels for this revolver, as they've bought out Dan Wesson.

You could check the Dan Wesson Forum for the best answers to this, but it doesn't seem like those barrels are readily available....

2009 CZ/DW parts price list has the 6" VH (Vent Heavy) barrel&shroud for $304, 8" for $374. 10" for $433, Prices are likely a bit higher now

That's a very good price for a DW .41 Mag, 4" barrel is a less common item, I'll bet it would be a great shooter.

They don't sell née barrels anymore. If you additional barrels you will haveto find them used and 41mag are hard to find a demand a premium. Still worth the price though for the revolver.

I looked at this gun again today, and noticed that it has a tiny bit of play in the cylinder when the hammer is cocked.  Probably just a couple of thousandths... Is that bad?

No. I'd also check directly with DW about barrel/shroud assemblies, I know people who have purchased them in the past several months.
