I have a post recall SR9 with about 100 rounds of mostly 115gr FMJ UMC through it.  2-3 times, it has not completely locked up when chambering the next round.  It seems to hang just short of full lock up.  When manually cycling the slide, I can feel the point at which it hangs.  It’s like it’s not slamming forward hard enough to overcome this hang point when chambering the next round.

I’m wondering if this occurrence  will just go away after an additional few hundred rounds?  Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

My opinion is that almost any semi-auto pistol will need up to 400 rds through it to break it in and smooth out the action and moving parts before real reliability can be assured. Most of the time, most (if not all) manufacturers will tell you the same thing when called about issues like this.

My suggestion would be to get another 300 rds and take an extended range session to finish the break in and get used to the feel and handling characteristics of the pistol. If it still acts up after that, then a call to the CS dept. would be in order and see what they have to say then.

Again, this is my opinion and we all know about opinions. YMMV.

I have noticed while dry firing , that the slide will hang untill the trigger is released. Only about 200 live rounds so far, still have the mag safety in.

I only have a little over 200 rounds thru mine and I have not had any problems. Was it the same type of ammo each time it happened? I have not noticed anything unusual when manually cycling.

Sounds like it needs a little more range time to break it in. Maybe run a box or two of ball  (fmj) ammo through it. You did strip it down and clean it first, right? Ruger sometimes gets carried away with the grease, it will slow things down if it's not removed.

I put another 100 through it today and it hung twice.  I "de-gunked" it when I first got it and cleaned & lubed it again before today's session.  Today I shot Federal 115gr FMJs.  I'll give it another few hundred rounds before I get too concerned.  Aside from this occasional hanging issue, it seems to be an outstanding weapon.
