I am considering picking up either a black or OD SR9. I was wondering if anyone had anything good or bad to say. And good pictures?

Any votes for OD or all black? Im in a real dilemma

I bought an SR9 just because 9mm ammo is cheap. I fucking love that gun. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do. I highly recommend an SR9

the cost of 9mm is the only reason I dont care that its not a .40. What finish did you get?

I recently bought one and it has run with no issues on several types of ammo, including gold dots and TAP.   Trigger a little stiff but is smoothing out.

Very happy with it.   I got the stainless.

I have the black one and I wish it was OD. I think you are very wise to consider the sr9. I carry mine in a crossbreed supertuck holster at almost every possible moment. I love this gun. It is the best concealing full size framed 9mm I have ever seen. The only problem I have come across is that it had some problems during the break in period. blazer aluminum cased ammo didn't cycle too wel and jammed a few timesl. During the break in period, I really don't even consider this a problem, I'm more just saying what you should expect.  but anyways, with cheap winchester target ammo it has been 100%. I haven't put anymore blazer ammo through ever since the break in period so I don't know how well it would do now with the blazer, but with winchester it has been awesome.

I can't really say much about how accurate it is since I'm not a great handgun shooter. Most of my experience with the gun comes from carrying it everyday rather than actually shooting it. If you are considering a sr9 then you are probably considering a glock 17 as well, so let me say this: the sr9 is slimmer and easier to conceal, much more comfortable in the hand, and is much more aesthetically pleasing (esp. in the OD). It also costs less brand new, althought it is hard to find used. There is only a trivial difference in weight between the two.

I say buy it. Buy it in OD.

After reading this thread, I "got the fever" for a SR9, too.

Today I traded in my beloved SS P95 DC  for a SS SR9.

I wanted something less bulky for my carry piece, and the SR9 fits the bill.

Haven't fired it yet, but it's clean and oiled and loaded up.

What's really cool, it's got adjustable sights! Nobody, either print or on-line had
mentioned this factoid, so imagine my surprise. Excellent. The rear sight is click-
adjustable for elevation, and drift-adjustable for windage.

I flipped the backstrap around to the flat side; it feels more like my .45, now.

Can't wait to shoot it; will post photos and range report, of course.

I bought a blackened SS SR9 a few weeks ago and recently took it to the range for the first time.
First, the good:
Fits my hand like a glove (with arched mainspring insert).
100% reliable-ate up everything I threw at it INCLUDING Wolf steel cased crap (BOTH the lacquer and polymer coatings) without so much as a single hiccup.
Very accurate!  The sights were way off when I started, but after some adjustment, this thing easily makes one hole groups at 21 feet offhand.  Groups at 15 yards were very nice as well.
Very aesthetically pleasing, IMO.

Now the bad...
Trigger pull is gritty and seems to hitch in stages.  Takes patience and practice to shoot well.  I'm hoping this improves as I shoot it more (only put about 175 rounds through it so far).
Now my biggest complaint:  The magazine release is amazingly stiff, and is very hard to press.  It also sticks in any imaginable position.  One time at the range I inserted a fresh magazine, and it fell right back out because the release button was stuck in.  This seems to have improved a little bit since the gun was brand new, but still is the source of a problem.  Do any of you guys have this issue?  I'm trying to decide whether I should send it back to Ruger, or just keep working it, hoping it will loosen up.  Any advice?

Anyway, just my $.02.  So far, I'm very fond of the gun, despite a couple complaints.

Also having trouble with the mag release, real bugger to operate. Does this get better with time?

While I was soaking up everything I could find about the SR9 prior to buying one, I came
across a coupla threads discussing this very problem.

Short version: it is a polymer button in a polymer frame; on some pistolas it is a TIGHT
fit. The way to fix it (and what they do at the factory with returned guns) is to
remove the magazine release and Scotchbrite it; smoothing it up.

Mine works just right, on both sides of the frame. The safety and slide release are nice, too.
I just got to get used to the DAO trigger

I just bought mine yesterday, and let me just say.. I wouldn't get your hopes up. Even after taking out the mag safety, it's probably a 15 pound break.

I'm really disappointed, I love everything else about the pistol.
