Ordered a new LCP two months ago and it still has not arrived.  Does anyone
have any idea as to how much longer I'll have to wait?

Damn, I prepaid for mine Wednesday last week and got a call that night that a big shipment came in. I picked it up the next day. $299 OTD. I was told to expect two or maybe three weeks, as that was how long it had been taking. Months?

You better pre order some .380 ammo also, it seems to be scarce.

Agreed. The only local source I found was selling $13/box Magtech 95gr ball ammo for $30/box. I had to get some because it's that or nothing, and I refuse to carry a $300 paperweight. Needless to say I will never buy from that shop again.

When you do receive it,I hope it functions alright. Mine missfired right out of the box. Took another month for Ruger to fix it.

I think it depends on your dealer and his volume with his supplier / Ruger.  I ordered in December and have gone from #60 on the list to about #30.  My dealer gets about one a week he says.  I hear other places get them in ten at a time.  I got a call today telling me that one had just arrived in a different store and was in the display case for $350.  My order is in at $269, so I'll wait.

Wow...At my local gun store, they have the LCP in stock...You can  have it with or without the laser...They want $345 for them...

I just bought my second one.  They sell here for $289 new.  I got my wife one and I found a 2 month old with less than a box through it for $235.  They had 6 in stock 2 weeks ago when I bought hers.

PIcked mine up yesterday.  It took about three weeks from the order date.  The dealer has a shit-ton of ammo, especially .380.  He will ONLY sell it to guys who buy a gun from him, and limits it even then.  His ammo prices suck anyway.  I got home and Palmetto State had .380 in stock.  I ordered a bunch, then went and changed my underwear. First time I have seen it in stock in any quantiity in a long time.  I also found a bunch of Hornady Critical Defense a couple of weeks ago, so I am set with .380 for a while.

My dealer has one sitting on his shelf, available for sale.  It seems he can't honestly recommend or sell it if you can't buy any ammo to feed it.

Its crazy.  While most other ammo can be purchased if you are willing to pay, it seems you can't even buy .380 at almost any price.

I won't make this an advertisement, but I’m a dealer, and we have lots of both LCP’s and LCR’s in stock. And we have 380 ammo for LCP buyers. Just thought I should chime in and add some hope. We sold 70 LCP's today.

It really does depend on your dealer and his distributor.  When I was shopping I was on one waiting list where they were getting 3-5 per week on avg, another shop said they might get 1/mth (and had 12 people on their list).  I found 1 in stock and paid $20 more to get it rather than wait on a list...of course while looking for ammo I did find another in stock for the cheaper price.  No big deal since I was told many times that if I find one to just buy it, within reason.

Should have updated before now... sorry.  Anyway it took a total of 14
weeks.  Found some ammo at Dick's the day after I bought it.
They had the cheap stuff and also that new Hornady critical
defense ammo.  Both worked fine so far.  Was surprised at
how accurate it was considering.  At 7 yds the groups were
5 inches fired single handed.  It came from the factory drenched
in oil, never saw that before in a new gun.  I removed it before
I shot it and just lightly lubed it.  I can't imagine why the factory
would soak it like that maybe the gud who did it gets paid by
how much oil he uses.

It came from the factory drenched
in oil,

Better that than to be too dry for storage- not that they are sitting around for long periods- but you never know how they're handled before you get it. I once had a case of Bersa 380's come in a wet crate- they were dry- and the moisture had caused rust an every one.

BTW, need a couple LCP owners to test out an accessory. Please PM me. Please don't PM me after June 16th. Only need a couple guys. Will require signing a 'non-disclosure' form for confidentiality reasons, and access to some ammo for testing and a decent digital camera.

Went to my dealer this morning.  He received 10 LCP's last night in his UPS shipment.  I got there 2 hours after he opened and he only had 2 left.  One went home with me.

Their all over GB for around $320- $350. I bought mine for $325 shipped in 2 days. Also bought 1000 rds of ammo from Wally World. 100 per box of Winchester white box. 100 rds was $24.95, so I just got all they had. It really is stupid to pay the prices of 380 ammo. But if you think this gun is just a 5ft shooter? Mine shot 2.5" groups all day long at 30ft. Just make sure you get a Post Recall Gun (one with a serial # that starts with 371 and not 370. They had problems with the earlier ones and had to recall them. You can read about it on Rugers website. For a tiny gun with tiny sights , it will sure hold it's own with all my Glocks at 10 yards. Super gun and awesome to conceal.

I've seen more and more LCP's in stores lately.  Yesterday I saw one in a gun store in Sunman Indiana for $309 which is a decent price if you have to have it right now.  I have one on order (still......) for $269 and I'm ok waiting for it.  As for ammo, I found 100 packs of WWB at Walmart and followed up with an online 1K bulk order from Bass Pro and then a defense round order from Cabelas.  The order from Bass Pro showed up in 2 weeks and the Cabela order is still in the works.  All the range ammo I've bought has been in the $0.33 neighborhood per round.  If your patient you can find "reasonably" priced ammo.

"It came from the factory drenched in oil"

I was told that is not oil, but a rust preventative.  Like someone else said, it's not like they are sitting around for long, but good that they coat them just in case I quess.

I got lucky a good friend of mine works at the local gun shop and call to let me know that they recieved a new Ruger LCP. First one they have seen in about 5 months. He knew that I was looking for a pocket pistol. The only thing that sucks was that I did not have the money to get it or put it on lay-a-way. Told him that I would have to wait till pay day or get a payday loan. CAN you believe he called me about 20 minutes later and told me that he put it on lay-a-way for me!! Now that is a friend. Total price was $360.

I still have one on "long term" order that was originally place in December 2008.  I am not #18 in line and the shop gets one per week on average.  Price is $269 which is why I'll wait.
