| I just bought an Exact Edge Extractor from Volquartsen. Has anyone had any luck with them? Noticed any imporvememt. |

When the extractor wore out on my first Mk. II, I would experience a FTEject (stovepipe) once or twice every other magazine, as well as seemingly-inconsistent recoil (sometimes the recoil would feel good and solid, other times it would feel weak and hesitant). I replaced it with a VQ extractor, and it cleared the FTEjects right up, and made cycling consistent. I immediately replaced the extractors on my second Mk. II and my Ruger 10/22 (which uses the same extractor), which hadn't worn out yet. When I bought my third Mk. II, I discovered its extractor was worn just like my first Mk. II, and that it was experiencing the same problems. Replacing the extractor cleared them right up. At $10-$12 apiece (I bought all four of mine from Rimfire Sports & Custom), I consider it money well-spent. Otherwise, I'd have spent a lot of time clearing jams on the range. |
| I experienced about 10 FTF/FTE out of 600 rounds on a brand new stock MKIII Hunter. 500 rounds were Winchester bulk ammo. The following week I put about 500 rounds of CCI ammo through the same pistol with no FTF/FTE. I already have a NIB exact edge extractor but I will wait until I have any real major extraction problems before I mess with a good thing. |
