Ruger's website says the finish on the slide and barrel is blued. It is actually blued, or is the finish Tennifer or similar? My wife's LC9 was stolen about a year and a half ago, and we just got a letter saying it was recovered. I called to make the appointment with the property room, and was told the gun was used in an assault and has blood on it. We would owe the insurance company around $325 to get it back. If it's blued, the finish is probably ruined. Does the hive think we should just let the PD and insurance company keep it?

Unless it has strong sentimental value to you, I would let it go.

Other than the finish, it has probably not been hurt, (not the kind of gun where you can unscrew the side plate, and screw everything else up).  Still, since you have already collected on the insurance, it might be best to move on.

Just my  thoughts on the matter.  Their really is no right or wrong decision, just a decision.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy back into that gun if it will need any investment what-so-ever.  Aren't new LC9s about that price, or just a bit more?

I'm pretty sure it's just bluing.  Blood is highly corrosive, so it's probably messed up.  At $325, I'd probably just go get a new one for a little more, or a slightly used one for that kind of money.

I will go look at it, but the wife doesn't really want it back now considering the history and cost to get it back.

It's a LC9  .... Let the insurance company keep it!
