I have a Ruger Mark II that FtEx every round. I bought the gun used and the issue may have crept in because I took it apart and clean it. I have stripped and assembled the gun successfully a time or two in the past, so after I noticed the FTEx issue, I took it apart and put it back together again. That didn't fix the problem. I followed the instructions for disassembly and reassembly, but it is certainly possible I screwed it up.
The round chambers, fires, but then FTEx. Any ideas? Things I should check out on the pistol? |

Double check the groove/slot that the extractor sits in for burs or crud. Did you get the spring, plunger and extractor reinstalled correctly? I have one that had some issues (from new) but it wasn't every round like yours. A Valquartzen extractor fixed it. I'll take a look at what you've suggested and triple check my installation. Worst comes to worst, I'll take a look at a new extractor. thanks! |
| My father's Mark II had failure to extract issues a few years ago, and again recently. Both times the extractor spring had broken or was extremely weak. His pistol is a minimum of 25 years old and this is the only problem he's had with it. replacing the spring fixed the issue both times. |

Do you know which guide you followed on assembly and disassembly? This one is good = External http://www.1bad69.com/ruger/field_strip.htm Internal http://www.1bad69.com/ruger/internals.htm |
