| Purchased a P95 with the intention of making it my house gun. Had great experience with a P85, so why not? Well, after 300+ rounds- Winchester white box 115gr fmj, UMC 115gr fmj, American Eagle 115gr fmj and assorted 124gr winchester ranger hp, this pistol cannot fire a Ruger mag to empty without at least 3 stoppages. Usually round 1 fires, then a subsequent round bangs into the feed ramp on the barrel and stovepipes there as the next round in the mag half feeds and jams into it. It is necessary to eject the mag to clear the jam. It seems as though the mags are very loose in the gun. All my mags are factory ruger, 3 are new. Pistol is about 14 months old- I just havent had time to shoot it very much. Note there is no wear marks on the feed ramp where you might expect to find them and the pistol normally does not hold open after the last round is fired from it. Thoughts? Other than throw it in the river and buy a 1911 or a glock. |
| I agree with the keep it clean, lubricated. The pistol at the start of the session described above was clean and lubricated per the manual with good ole CLP. So that isnt the problem. Spoke with Ruger today, service rep said to get it into their shop and they will turn it around in about 10 days. |

Update from Ruger Customer Service- My P95 did not arrive at Prescott AZ until 9-20. As I spoke with the CS rep, she told me the status on the repair went from in progress to complete. She said if she gets it shipped tomorrow, I will have it back on Tuesday. Pretty good turnaround. |
| Update on my P-95. Received back from Ruger without any paperwork.... No "Timmy found this when he repaired your P95". I called Ruger and asked to speak with the tech who serviced my P95. Very knowledgeable, nice guy. Told me he found nothing wrong with the P95. I asked him how so??? I sent 2 mags with the pistol for him to use for testfire. He thanked me for doing so. He claims to have fired over 100 rounds of WWB 115gr FMJ and some miscell Black Hill with no problems. When I told him I was using Remington UMC at the present time he spoke very badly about the UMC and said that the P95 is rock solid with the WWB and Black Hills. I havent had any WWB for some time so I cant recall if it was reliable in my P95. Anybody offer any comments? |

I agree with his assessment about UMC being junk. +1 on this. I run Sellier & Bellot 115gr and 124gr FMJ, MagTech 115gr FMJ and Hornady Critical Defense 115gr through mine with ZERO issues. Any problems I have had is with UMC I wish I never bought (was on sale, live and learn...) |
| Havent had a chance to check it yet. Been very busy, and have to drive 100 miles each way to spend any kind of time shooting it (my hunting camp) From the looks of what I see, the Ruger P95 likes a little hotter round than normal. That wont be a problem to find. I have a couple hundred rounds of the UMC to shoot up (???) and then plan to try WW white box 115gr FMJ and some WW white box 115gr HP Hoping the WW white box is the cure. |

I've had my P95 for about 8 months now, and I've put a couple thousand rounds through mine with no problems. I've used MFS, S&B, WInchester, Federal and reloads. However, recently my loving wife bought me the big yellow box of 250 Remington UMC 9MM rounds and for the first time I had problems. Fail to fire and failing to eject where the common problems with the Remington UMC. I cleaned my P95 really well and oiled her, I used good Winchester rounds and today I put another 250 rounds through my P95 with not a single problem. I really think it is the Remington UMC ammo, it is dirty and crap. I really love my P95. I keep it clean and oiled, and use good rounds and she shoots really well. I will never use that crap Remington UMC ammo again. I didn't have the heart to tell my wife about her ammo gift being crap, so I hope if she decides to buy me ammo again, it is not the Remington UMC. |
