A good friend of mine is having problems with
the slide not closing completely. I told him he was
limp wristing it, and he told me to shoot it. Still did it. When i
fired it 5 out of the 17 i had to pull the slide back a
bit then let it go. We were shooting cheap fmj but
every ammo we put through it does it.
I put the same ammo through my M&P and sig 229
W/out any problems.
Any ideas whats causing this? Are the SR9c just
ammo snops?

Thanks...Andy

Nutnfancy posted a series of video in youtube where his SR9 experienced similary type of failure as you described (failure to go to battery). It was a brand new gun and failed multiple times in just a few boxes worth of ammo he was shooting during his "trench warfare" course of fire. He sent it back to Ruger and Ruger supposedly "fixed" it. Ruger said they fixed the barrel (whatever that means as no detail was provided by Ruger). Nutnfancy repeated the COF with that SR9. It experienced the same failure again. He sent it back to Ruger asking them to fix it thoroughly or give him a new gun. He got a new gun which ran 100% for him during his next outting. He was using mostly CCI Blazer with some PMC ammo too. He said the CCI Blazer was working well with his other handguns, including his other SR9 pistols (he has a few). So it was not likely to be an ammo-induced problem.

Tell your friend to contact Ruger.

How many rounds has he put downrange with it? I can hear a slight hiccup when I chamber a round by hand but when firing ive never had a hangup. I just wonder if a little more break-in will help but a trip back to Ruger may be in order. Ive shot cheap brass (never tried wolf) and never had an issue.

500 rnds min through the gun id guess. We put wwb, fiocchi, and
Federal fmj through it last weekend with the same result.

i had the same problem with mine, when i first took it out, I found the problem was the magazines not seating all the way.  i wasn't slamming it in hard enough. ones i made sure the mag was seated all the way, it seems to run fine
