So I purchased a ruger sp101 in .22lr from a buddy of mine for $300 a few months ago. Gun is in mint and shoots phenomenally. The issue however arises after firing the rounds and attempting to eject the expended casings utilizing the ejection rod. It takes a huge amount of force to be able to push the rod back and get the shells out. This only happens with expended casings, non expended eject just fine. I sent the gun to ruger and received a response today....in sum they said that it had machining burrs on the inside cylinder walls and that the gun was unserviceable and they recommend disposition, offering me a sp101 in any caliber of current manufacture. Of course Im NOT gonna let them destroy my beautiful sp101 in 22lr so they are sending it back. I would rather never shoot it again and have it sit in my gun safe then let it be destroyed. Hope you guys agree. Anyways if anyone has any ideas or info as to what my options if any to repair it, I would surely appreciate it. I would love to be able to shoot this gun on a regular basis.
Thank you |
