I was checking out the used selection and my local gun shop and came across 2 1911s One was a Colt 1911 compact the other was a Kimber 1911 Custom II both were the same price of $695 but I resisted my urge compulsive buy and talked it over with my GF that night, and with her name being Kimberly you can guess which one she wanted me to buy. So after a long conversation with my self I decided I have a subcompact Ruger LCP, a compact glock19 but not a full size. So after some price negotiation I got them to take $150 off the price and took home the Kimber. I picked up 2 Colt 1911 mags for 8 bucks each and a IWB holster for it. put 100 rounds through it so far and it shoots awesome GF loves it too. One question though, for those who carry 1911s whats the proper way to carry it? This is my first gun with an external hammer do I cock the gun and leave the hammer back with the safety on or do I lower the hammer down after cocking it? I carry a Glock 19 normally so this gun is a little different Crappy cell phone pics but here she is http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v508/x2122/IMAG0031.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v508/x2122/IMAG0029.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v508/x2122/IMAG0030.jpg Cocked & Locked. with one in the chamber &.hammer back thumb safety engaged. There's no DANGER it's not going to shoot without your help :) The 1911 actually has more saftie's than the Glock so if your comfortable with the Glock you are totally safe & have nothing to fear with COCKED & LOCKED....the next thing you may hear...you should have got the colt...bullshit...i have 2 colt's they are no better than any of my 1911's & NOT as good as a few :) |
