I just had my Kimber sent in today at the local gunshop for some repairs.

I bought it on the EE very recently and it came broken (the negative feedback will be strong for the member who done it when I get word from Kimber as to the exact problem).

Does anyone have any experience sending guns to Kimber? The gunshop guy said that it would be covered (it is a safety issue) and I wouldn't have to pay, but the wait will be quite a while.

How do they rate as far as quickly returning guns and overall customer service?

Sorry to hear, Kimbers CS runs from excellent to poor .......... consistency doesn't seem to be their strong suit.

I've sent pistols back to Kimber twice for warranty work.  They were excellent.  Received call from custom shop when they were about to ship each pistol back to me, explaining what they found and what they did.  And when pistols arrived via UPS, there was list in the carrying case of the repairs performed.  Absolutely no complaints here.

Did you give the guy a chance to correct the problem or make it right or do you just want to throw him under the bus without knowing what's going on?

Oh nono, I contacted him and told him what was wrong. Im not throwing anyone under the bus unless Kimber comes back to me and says that it wasnt something that could have broken during normal use and that they werent going to fix it, or something equally crazy. In that case I would just ask for some money back.

I am anxious about this gun, considering how much it cost and all.

This is then reason I will not purchase ANYTHING I can't hold & inspect by hand before handing over the cash.  I've been dealing with my FFL so long if I have a warranty problem? He will just switch it  out  or even give me a completely different firearm, what ever I want to do.

mine was gone for 7 weeks.  but to their credit,  they called and said they wanted to replace the frame so there was no ?  it would be 100%.  it took 3-4 weeks to get another frame and get it fitted and finshed.  the ejector was loose and broke.  i didn't like the extra time, but i wanted it right.  i'm happy now.

How about an update?

Woops forgot about this thread. Thanks for emailing me the link

I got the Kimber back pretty quickly (3 weeks I think). They replaced the grip safety, thumb safety and firing pin along with polishing the hammer and giving it a test fire.
None of it cost me a dime. Everyone I have talked to (myself included) is now very impressed by Kimber than the willingness that they had to stand behind their product. They sent me paperwork verifying the work, and told me (through their local dealer who sent it in for me) that if it has any other problems send it back they will do everything they can.

I havent put a lot of rounds through the gun since I got it back, unfortunately some big changes are happening in my life and I am going to probably have to get rid of it for financial reasons but I will have a lot of faith in Kimber as a company because of this experience.

forgot to say:   after got it back it has a perfect trigger now.  it was good before, but even better now.  it's nice that there are still company's that take care of their customers.

I bought a Gold Combat that thought-out of the box- that it was a full auto. I called the custom shop,  who at first expressed some doubt. I sent the gun in- they called back and said-"dang" asked me what weight I wanted the trigger and I had the gun in my hands three days later.
