I was considering order an Ultra CDP II from a local shop. They told me there would be a 4-6 month wait for it. Are they just covering themselves because of the buying frenzy, or is Kimber really that far behind on orders?

My boss at the gun shop i work weekends at also told me the same thing.  We order 25 guns, we get 1 or 2.... its like that with Glock, Beretta etc...

When looking for a Kimber I was told by a local chain (5 around the Seattle area) they had none in inventory and wouldn't even give me a guess on when any would or could come in.

I was lucky enough to pick up a used Warrior with (claimed) 200 rounds through it on Gunbroker for $850, the guy happened to live less than 20 miles from me, so everything was done FTF!  Not a scratch on it, no wear that I can tell or find, barrel is great.  No opportunity to shoot it yet.

Maybe your luck rubbed off on me. I found a lightly used Ultra CDP II about 20 minutes from me through the PAFOA forum. The guy said it was just too pretty for him to carry and it's been a safe queen since he bought it. Going to meet him and do the transfer on Friday!

Glad you found what you're looking for.

ETA: Gunbroker has some great deals if you have patience.  A lot of times it's not worth it once you pay shipping, FFL, etc..  There are diamonds in the rough.

My dealer told me the same thing last month. 16-20 weeks backorder. After a couple of weeks of checking Gunbroker, I found a Compact CDP II. The owner claims less than 200 rounds, and that it's lived in the safe. I transferred it through the dealer and it looks brand new. If you want, you can set up a custom search on Gunbroker, and they will email you every time a gun is listed that matches your criteria.
