I've been telling myself for a while that I wanted to pick up a new carry pistol. I have been using the Springfield XD 9, which I love, but I wanted something in a higher caliber. I had a couple things in mind when I walked into my favorite local gun shop, and for many reasons, I decided to go with the Kimber Pro Carry II. I was a little nervous due to all the recent complaints about smaller Kimbers, but I decided to take the risk. Especially since I wanted to add a 1911 to my collection.
I took my new baby home, and learned to field strip it, fairly simple. Went about giving it a good cleaning and went to bed, I wanted plenty of sleep for the next day at the range! ;) I arrived at the range and pulled out my new 1911, good weight for a carry gun, solid enough to know its there but not too heavy. I loaded it up and took aim, it had a nice balance to it, I squeezed the trigger and fired a round. A tad low and left, but fairly accurate. I emptied the clip and the rest of my shots were right on. Pros: Small profile, good weight and balance, extremely reliable (200 rounds, no issues), and a beautiful gun. Cons: The magazine that came with the gun seems to be of low quality, and while firing I got the occasional wake up case to the head. Here are some pics, I'll include the rest of my collection too just for eye candy.
