I'm leaning toward either a Springfield Inc. or a Kimber.  .45 ACP is a must.  I'll probably replace a SIG 220 to do it.  I was wondering what sort of money I am looking at (actual price rather than MSRP) to get into either a Kimber or a SA inc. compact 1911.

Any insights, suggestions, etc. are welcome.

I was just looking at a Kimber Ultra CDP II the other day in .45, I think it was just over $1100.  The Ultra Carry (non-custom version) is more like $7-800.

My lightweight aluminum framed Springfield ultra-compact "loaded" with nite-sites was $650.

My GF payed $499 for a mil-spec micro-compact with nite-sites.

I have a Kimber Ultra Carry, and I really like it.    It cost $750.00.  I also have a Para C7 LDA, and I also really like it, it cost $650.00.  I prefer the practical accuracy of the C7, but the Kimber is nearly as easy for me to rapidly engage targets with, and it is slightly more accurate.  When I am at the range, I think  the people who shoot IDPA and the like, like the Para more, but the Kimber gets more compliments from everyone.  Both are great .45 autos..., but I wish I'd spent the extra $75.00 for the Kimber Eclipse model....

I recenly purchased a used Kimber Ultra Carry.
Shoots very well and is in great shape. I think it has been shot alot. The grip safety shows signs of wear as does the feed ramp. $700.00.
It will put all rounds inside a 3 inch circle at 15 yards all day long. I am a lefty and had to get a holster. Galco paddle. Perfect fit.
Stainless steel. 3 inch barrel. Night sights.
I put Hogue grips on it. Sticks to my hands.
It is a keeper.
