I got a new Kimber Desert Warrior.  Went shopping for ammo today and noticed that the Speer Gold Dots advertised as 45 Auto +P.  Is my Kimber rated for +P ammo or not?  I looked in the instructions and didn't find out either way.

I have over 5,000 rounds through my Warrior in less than 4 months.... Mostly standard pressure but I have put several hundred +P rounds through it and it works just fine.  Heavy steel frame and all.... I also have a CDP II and I dont put so many +P rounds through it with an alloy frame but I do carry +P for carry rounds.

Your warrior will handle the +P load, however if you're going to feed it a steady diet of such increase your recoil spring weight.

Just to wrap this up fully, Kimber confirmed that +P ammo was good to go.

Thank you for your question.  The Desert Warrior is fully capable of handling +P ammunition, like the Speer Gold Dot.  If you have any further questions please elt me know and I will be glad to help you.

So only the Warrior is capable of handling +P?

Not exactly....
I'm not going to say any and all will handle +P's as a steady diet.

However, all of my past , present and probably future 1911's function just fine with it in a limited capacity.

My current carry rig of choice is the Kimber 4" compact loaded with 200+P Gold Dots.
