I've had this Kimber for 6 years now. It's ran great thus far but the outside of the barrel keeps pitting/rusting. What do you suggest for protecting my barrel? I'm currently using Tetra gun grease.
I'm contemplating just buying a new barrel from Brownells. |

I am sending mine off to ROBAR. IT looks like for $65 they will treat the barrel with NP3 plus that will never rust again. Just did the same thing to my Warrior barrel last week. Haven't gotten it back yet, obviously. Was your Warrior barrel rusting too? I soaked mine in CLP over night then took a brass brush to it but it has permanent pitting. |

No mine never experienced any rusting in 5 or 6 years of ownership. I think the reason is that I always coat my barrels in grease to lube them. That coating likely prohibited rust. I sent it in really because I bought a used Hi-Power that had a lot of surface rust on the barrel (their barrels are in the white too). It needed something done to it. I figured that as long as I'm sending that in I'd send my Kimber barrel as well. |
