I am unhappy with the factory 18lb recoil spring in the Kimber Ultra Carry.  I have ordered a Wolff 21# replacement spring set.  I understand how to remove the larger outer spring, I am not sure how to remove the smaller inner spring.  Has anyone performed this modification, and if so, could you enlighten me.

Thanks

You can just replace the outer spring three times (once every 1800 rounds). After that, Kimber recommends changing the complete assembly. If the assembly is backordered at Kimber, Midway USA usually has them in stock.

What will the 21# do for you?
I have an ultra as well and would like to know what benefit I might get from a 21# spring.

The heavier spring is for heavier loads. I've shot +P loads with the 18# spring and it works fine.

My Kimber stainless ultra carry 2 was having problems with heavier ball ammo and some 230gr hollow points with the factory 18# spring. I installed a wolff extra power recoil spring set and now it feeds everything I put in it.
