Hey Guys,
I really need some advice...and quick as Santa Claus needs the list ASAP. I want to reload my .50 AE but I dont know what all I need. All I have so far is brass that I collect from the range. Can someone give me a list of EVERYTHING that I need. Make and model info would be a big help too. Where can I get everything? My budget is $300. Thanks for the help guys!!!     Jeff

If you have no reloading gear at all, you will need a pile of stuff!

A loading press, dies, shell holder, powder scale, reloading books, powder, primers, bullets, etc!

Do you have any reloading gear to start with?

Better search Midway or Graf and Sons, I prefer Graf and Sons. They may have a beginners reloading kit with the press, scales, and all the basic goodies.

You will need maybe $200 or more worth of gear, plus reloading books/literature. The info from the books will help you choose the components(bullets, powder, primers). Will also give you an idea of the minimum amount of gear you will need.

It's not all that hard to reload, but you better have your ducks in a row! Do your research first. See what the suppliers have for a basic reloading setup. Get your componants, and start modestly!

Don't want to hear about how many chunks a Desert Eagle can be blown into!

Do you know of a good reloading book? Anything that has step by step info for a 50ae?      Jeff

I'll have to dig out my reloading books and look to see, but I think my most informative about the general principals and procedures is an ancient Lyman manual. It would be sorely outdated by now. I doubt it even has the .50AE info in it, being printed probably in the early 1970's.

I learned reloading from my father, who was an avid reloader.

It's really not hard to reload. But it's not a "hurry hurry" deal. especialy with pistol rounds. A double charge of powder being all to easy to introduce into a case leading to a KABOOM!

That statements not at all designed to scare you off reloading, just to introduce caution and respect for the process.

I've reloaded some pistol calibers, but my main expertise is in rifle calibers. I would go to the reloading forums and ask them some of your .50AE questions, I bet some of the guy's there might have some experience with the big big pistol rounds, and be a far better source of info than me.

I have a guy im talking to on Youtube who reloads his .50 ae and he gave me a list of 2 books to buy...The ABC's of Reloading and Speer #14 Reloading Guide. As soon as they get here I will read them and get back with you guys and hopefully have an idea of what I need to do.      Jeff
