I have a friend who has a USP that needs the slide re-finished, what is the closest to factory, can I do it myself?

J I was thinking about having my USP re-done by overland plating. it's not going to be factory finish though, they have a matte black and due blueing too, so whatever you like. You can even have it 24K gold or chrome, lol OverLand Plating |

I am still in the market for a way to re-finish my Stainless Compact .45
The clear lacquer style finish has started to come off in a few areas due to holster wear. I called Hk here in the U.S. and they could not do anything for me and could not lead me in any direction to get it re-finished to factory looks. They said I would not be able to ship it back to Hk due to shipping handguns/parts over seas etc... The best I can do at this point is have a place such as cylinder and slide bead blast it with walnut shells to get the lacquer looking finish off and it will not be shiny like the original finish is. But until I hear someone say there is a way to get a factory finish re-done I am hopeless on this subject, and I am a little butt hurt over it too.

There is no official HK refinisher in the states for the stainless finish. All the finishes get done in Germany. Arizona Gun Runners can give you the black HK refinish if you want it. Yeah that's kinda what I have been running into, I just don't want to give up the original SS look. Kinda sad I can't find someone to re-finish it |

Ok, a little more gray than stainless, but, it still keeps the bi-tone look and after the first time you clean it, you'll want all of your firearms done in it. I can blast a metric fuckton of the filthiest loads you've ever done seen and most of the gun will wipe down with a dry rag, good as new. It's downright fucking magical. |

Robar is the only place I've had it done. It will cost you a pretty penny, though, 200+ with shipping both ways for a full job on a USP (including the internals).
My USP has had the finish on it for over 5 years now and over 10k rounds. Still looks brand spanking new. I now include the cost of having any BCGs I order for my ARs done with it as a base cost instead of an "extra"
