Need a quick price check on a H&K USP .45.
It is the variant 2 model (can someone explain that to me) and comes with the HK light system that fits on the rail in front of the trigger guard. I'm looking to get this in trade but don't know how to value it? The original owner claims 80 rounds through it and a production date of 1995. Appears to be mint condition. ....Also, can I get an aftermarket/factory threaded barrel for it as I would intend to slap a can on it. Thanks! |

HKPro has a link that describes the variants. HKPro Variant Description Variant 2 to my knowledge is Double Action / Single Action with safety and decocker. It's located on the right side of the frame as opposed to the Variant 1 which is also DA/SA with safety/decocker on the left. I suppose the question is are you a lefty? '95 is an old school HK. It's a bit before my time so I can't comment specifically to the changes in the old school HKs and the newer USPs. I will say that Big Bore on here or hkpro is your man for that. dude has forgotten more than I know. Anyhow, I picked up a slightly used AD (2004) USPF .45 with 3 x 10 rnd mags, black HK case, mepro night sights, and the UTL (which was broken and will cost $40 to fix) for $625. I could have picked up one for a few bucks cheaper but that's a pretty good price I felt. I'd say if it truly is mint and only comes with a UTL you're looking at 550-600. You can pick up a threaded barrel for that guy. Jarvis makes them I'm pretty sure. I've seen them on hkpro.com but don't recall how much they are going for. If you're looking to go suppressed, you might consider buying the HK USP Tactical. You'd need to replace the sights on your USP to see over a suppressor to my knowledge. Again, I'll defer to Big Bore and others. Man, I love HK. I just picked up my 2nd USP. I now have the Fullsize and Compact 45. I love them to death. I'll probably pick up another fullsize and then start saving up for a HK45. Hope this helps. |

A used full size USP .45 will be in the $600-650 range, depending on the area of the country. One can buy them new for in the low $700s with a bit of shopping.
Compacts can bring a bit of a premium over the full sized brothern, usually $25-50 for one in the same condition. As stated, Varient 2 is for LEFT-handed shooters, but this CAN be amended somewhat quickly for a right-handed one. Yes, one will need taller sights for a normal USP if one installs a threaded bbl & wants a suppressor on it. This is why most buy the Tactical model for suppressor use. If you're bound & determined to get a can, then skip the USP & go for the Tactical. By the time you pay extra for a threaded bbl, you can buy a Tactical. The triggers are MUCH better on a Tactical as well. My .o2 |
