Hello, Im looking to buy an HK USPc 40. Do the date codes mean anything other than their age? Are there certain years that should be avoided or that are more desireable than others? Thanks, this is my first HK so I really dont know anything about them. Anything else I should know about this particular model? Thanks everyone! |

The date code tells you when it was mfgrd. I believe the USP got "upgraded" in the mid '90s, but any recent manufacture should be good to go. Check out HKPro Forum, it's the ARFCom of H&K. Oh, and nice choice! I got this one an even year ago today.

There's no issues with specific years of mfg of the USP as far as the gun goes, as far as I've heard or know. There's been a mag issue here & there, but these were ironed out a long time ago. You don't mention if your gun is new or used? If used, the closer to $500 you get, the better the deal is. New would probably be in the $650-700 range, IMO. Check Gunbroker for some pricing ideas. I bought a Full Size USP .40 USED in 96'. I've shot several thousand rounds through it since, it's never had a problem and it's the primary pistol in the house (My wife also likes to use it). Back then I paid $425.  $650 doesn't sound too bad considering the accessories.If you don't like the checkering then slip on a hogue grip. |
