Just acquired one made in '94. Is the finish similiar to what Sig Sauer uses and how long will it last?

Too open ended to answer, IMO. Hostile environements, amount of holster draws, proper oiling of the steel, etc. all contribute to protecting the finish or not.

My 9mm USPF is used for IPSC, steel plate & 3 Gun matches & has held up wonderfully. I'd say mine was probably made in the mid to late 1990s, but I haven't checked the date code on it. I did buy it used.

No clue on the Sig question, sorry.

You're right. I know what to look for when a Sig is concerned-barrel wear, holster wear. The pistol has lost quiet abit of the color it would normally have due to holster wear but no rust. It's nothing to be concerned about I guess.

Mine was the same way, bought it used. I went ahead and blasted it and durocoated it. Especially since they make the color HK black.

I acquired my HK USP 9 used as well.  My date code is 99, and it does show a bit of wear.  I don't know the origins of the gun, so I don't know if it was a carry gun or not, however for being 9 years old the finish has held up well in my opinion.

I have a KD, I believe that makes it a '94.  I have shot it a lot, but I assume most of its round count has been from me.  I wish I had started a round count when I bought it, but it is useless now.  I assume Ive shot 2-3k rounds through it in under a year, I guess that isnt a whole lot by some standards.
