I have a USP Compact (40 cal, Var. 1, blued).  It was going to be my carry weapon, but I prefer my G23 for that duty.  I would like to trade it in for a 9mm version and use it as a range plinker.

Would it be fair to trade mine for a 9 mm version straight up (assuming that the condition of both was equal) or would I expect to pay a little more or expect some cash from the trade?  Thanks.

A dealer will NEVER trade even-up for the same gun. He's always gonna ask for some coin. This is how he keeps his light bill paid.

A private individual may very well trade even-up, IMO. There's no real value difference in caliber between the .40 & the 9mm, IMO. There will be in the .45acp, however.

Thanks Bob.  That's what I was looking for.  I was thinking that 9 mm versions were more valuable (because it's cheaper to shoot) and therefore I would be throwing in some extra cash.  Although I wouldn't mind throwing in $50 or so, but that would be it.  Mine is in excellent condition with barely 200 rounds through it.
