Did not see this topic so, what are folks using for defensive rounds? I have read the ammo threads, tacked threads, and info on other websites. Just wanted to see what is working for other folks for this particular model. |
What kind of hollow point were you using? Ive heard of the point of aim being off after shooting through glass but never thought it would destroy the bullet. Anyway i carry Speer 230gr Gold Dots. |
| Right now it`s Federal 230 gr. HST +P. I didn`t particularly want +Ps but that was all they had when I decided to buy some. When these are gone I`ll get the standard version if available. I carried 230 gr. Gold Dots for several years, and wouldn`t hesitate to load up with those anytime. |
Well, *I* never got to examine the spent bullets. Seems the ballastic's guys didn't want my help, for some odd reason..............  But I do know that I was laying that front sight on the burglar's center of mass as he drove his car right at me & I never scored a hit from the front. It was only from the passanger's window that I got my hit into him.  I've shot junk cars' windows & windshields & have seen 9mm FMJ bounce right off like it was a .22 or something.  I was using Starfire JHP ammo in that instance, FWIW. I don't know that there's a huge amount of difference in performance in one brand or another once it encounters a windshield. That glass is both thick & slanted, neither of which lends itself to easy penetration as well as bullet shape retention, IMO. |
