Did not see this topic so, what are folks using for defensive rounds?

I have read the ammo threads, tacked threads, and info on other websites.  Just wanted to see what is working for other folks for this particular model.

RA45T.  Neither of mine has ever jammed with anything though, so I imagine any proven JHP would be fine.

I was using hollowpoints until I had my episode with my burglar & they fell apart when I shot thru his windshield. Since then I've switched to nothing but 230gr FMJ in all of my .45's.

What kind of hollow point were you using? Ive heard of the point of aim being off after shooting through glass but never thought it would destroy the bullet.
Anyway i carry Speer 230gr Gold Dots.

Right now it`s Federal 230 gr. HST +P. I didn`t particularly want +Ps but that was all they had when I decided to buy some. When these are gone I`ll get the standard version if available. I carried 230 gr. Gold Dots for several years, and wouldn`t hesitate to load up with those anytime.

Well, *I* never got to examine the spent bullets. Seems the ballastic's guys didn't want my help, for some odd reason..............

But I do know that I was laying that front sight on the burglar's center of mass as he drove his car right at me & I never scored a hit from the front. It was only from the passanger's window that I got my hit into him.

I've shot junk cars' windows & windshields & have seen 9mm FMJ bounce right off like it was a .22 or something.

I was using Starfire JHP ammo in that instance, FWIW. I don't know that there's a huge amount of difference in performance in one brand or another once it encounters a windshield. That glass is both thick & slanted, neither of which lends itself to easy penetration as well as bullet shape retention, IMO.
