I picked up a P7 a couple weeks ago and finally got to the range with it last night.

I was shooting  115Gr Winchester white box and I noticed that every round had a slight bulge about 1/3rd the way up the case.

It looks like the slide was opening to fast and allowing the case to leave the chamber before the pressure dropped in the barrel.

Since this is my first experience with the P7 I'm guessing it is not normal.  Do I need to clean the gas system before shooting again or do I need a stronger recoil spring?  The pistol looks to have not been shot much so I wouldn't think the recoil spring was weak.

The 148 gr Tap I shot did not bulge I don't know if that was a function of the higher gr weight or a stronger case.

I'm betting it was ammo related & has nothing to do with the gun. Personally, I've never been a fan of Win. white box ammo.

I shoot WWB out of both of my P7's and never had an issue.

It happens. Too many of us have had issues with this ammo though to discard it as a possible reason for the issue, IMO.

Wouldn't hurt to clean the gas system, as you said.  Don't mean to be didactic, but ...
Hi-pressure gas is vented into the frame cylinder, and the slide-mounted piston (working against that gas) "retards" the slide long enough to allow pressure to drop to a "safe" level.
IF, the small passage was blocked (?) and wasn't allowing the gas to get to the cylinder ... pressure could still be quite high when the slide began to cycle. That could contribute to the bulging ammo.

Stay safe
