Is it true that the p2000 is essentially a HK usp with a polymer frame?

If so, can I interchange barrels with hk usp models of the same caliber?

As you can no doubt tell, I am new to handguns and hk's....any tips appreciated, thanks.

USPs are polymer pistols. No, the parts are not interchangable except for some of the mags between the USP compact and p2000's in certain models and calibers. Barrels are not interchangable at all as far as I know.

P2000's would be consdered an "evolutionary" step in the USP design. Standard picatinny rail instead of the proprietary version, interchangable backstraps, modified ergonomics. I'm sure there are more examples, but I don't own a p2000.

Check out HKpro.com - mainpage has good info on just about anything HK ever put their name on, and the forums can't be beat when it comes to HK specific information.
